Oh, the Anticipation!

Berry season is just underway in Portland! Here’s what I’m giddy about.

Summer time is glorious here in Portland, Oregon.

We don’t say it too loud, it’s really our best kept secret – Mother Nature owes us after 6 incredibly dreary months of rain (which is why we drink so much coffee!)

Anyway, summer means berry season’s just getting underway. I’m starting to sound more like Bubba Gump every day, anticipating all the wonderful ways I’ll put them to use this year.

While my berries aren’t quite ready yet, there’s a bumper crop over on Sauvie Island ripe for the picking. I love to head to Columbia Farms, and Dave and I always get too many!

So far I’ve bubba gumped or am in the process of bubba gumping Fresh Berry pie (turned out meh), Strawberry Jam the French Way (usually a winner!), and raspberry simple syrup (hello, rasperry spritzes by the pond)!

HELLO SUMMER!
Glad you came (until it gets too hot.)

Blackberries are just waiting for Gordon's Honeybees to pay them a visit.
My blackcap raspberries are sooo close! They always remind me of the gummy candies that my husband hates and I love.
While my berries aren't ready yet, the farms on Sauvie Island are hopping. Check out the tayberries.
